Kyoto and Osaka in 4 days

Kyoto's temples, a morning in Nara and Osaka by night, built by DimTrip's assistant from one request, with both hotels in the trip.

We asked DimTrip's travel assistant for four days in Kansai: Kyoto first, a morning in Nara, then Osaka, with a hotel in each city. It built the trip below from that one request: 29 stops with start times across three cities, the train legs on the moving day, and both hotels in the trip's reservations. Here is the request, the finished days, and a few notes we would add before going.

The request

Plan 4 days in Kansai for two, 5 to 8 November 2026: Kyoto for the first two days, a Nara morning on day 3, then Osaka. Put a hotel near Kyoto Station in reservations for the first two nights and one in Namba for the last two.

Day 1 (Thursday, Kyoto): Higashiyama, Nishiki and Nijo Castle

12:45	Nishiki Market	Lunch on the move along Kyoto's covered market street.
14:30	Nijo Castle	The shogun's palace, known for its "nightingale" floors.
18:30	Pontocho Alley	Dinner in the narrow lane beside the Kamo river.

Day 2 (Friday, Kyoto): Arashiyama, the Golden Pavilion and Fushimi Inari

19:15	Kyoto Ramen Koji	A ramen alley inside the Kyoto Station building, close to the hotel.

Day 3 (Saturday): Nara in the morning, Osaka by evening

16:30	Shinsekai and Tsutenkaku	The retro district under the tower.
18:30	Dotonbori	Neon, the canal and street food, the full Osaka evening.

Day 4 (Sunday, Osaka): the castle, Umeda and a river cruise

The hotels are part of the trip

The assistant put both stays into the trip's reservations: two nights near Kyoto Station, then two in Namba. The move on day 3 is therefore part of the plan, not a note somewhere else. The assistant records reservations; it does not book them. Once you have booked, tell it the hotel names and confirmation numbers, and it updates the entries.

Changing it

The plan is a starting point, and every change is one sentence away. For example:

"Move Fushimi Inari to the first morning, before the crowds."
"We land at Kansai Airport at 10:40 on the 5th, so start day 1 later."
"Swap Den Den Town for the Kaiyukan aquarium."

The assistant edits the actual days and asks before it deletes anything. If you are travelling with someone, invite them and they will see each change as it lands.

Before you go

Kyoto to Nara: the Kintetsu limited express from Kyoto Station takes about 35 minutes. JR takes a little longer and is covered by the JR Pass.
Nara to Osaka: Kintetsu runs from Kintetsu-Nara straight to Osaka-Namba in about 40 minutes.
Early November is the start of the autumn colours, and Kyoto's famous temples are at their busiest. Arrive at opening time for the big names.
