London and Paris in 7 days

Four days in London and three in Paris in December, built by DimTrip's assistant from one request: museums, markets, bookshops, Christmas lights and one afternoon tea. Here is the request, the week hour by hour, and what we fixed in the chat.

This London and Paris itinerary is a week in December: four days in London, the Eurostar, then three days in Paris. DimTrip's travel assistant built it from one request, and we corrected it in the chat. Below is the request, all seven days hour by hour, what we asked it to fix, and what to check before you book.

The request

Plan a 7-day trip to London and Paris from 7 to 13 December 2026 for two people: four days in London, then the Eurostar to Paris for three. We love museums, markets, bookshops and Christmas lights, and we'd like one afternoon tea. Keep the days walkable. Early starts, relaxed evenings.

The assistant created the trip with a London leg in pounds and a Paris leg in euros. It filled the seven days with 47 stops and added the Eurostar as a reservation. It also wrote a checklist of things to book early: the Eurostar, the afternoon tea, Winter Wonderland, timed museum tickets and the UK entry check.

Days 1–4: London

Day 1 (Monday 7 December): South Kensington

Day 2 (Tuesday): Bloomsbury to Covent Garden

Day 3 (Wednesday): the Tower and the South Bank

Day 4 (Thursday): Westminster, the National Gallery and tea

Days 5–7: Paris

Day 5 (Friday 11 December): the Eurostar and the islands

Day 6 (Saturday): the Louvre to the Opéra

Day 7 (Sunday): the Marais

Fixed in the chat

Two museums before opening time. The first draft started day 1 at the Natural History Museum at 09:00 and day 2 at the British Museum at 09:00. Both open at 10:00. We said so, and the assistant moved both to 10:00 and shifted the rest of each day by an hour. It then pointed out what that cost: Winter Wonderland now ran to its 22:00 closing, and day 2 ended an hour later.

Changing our minds. We asked it to remove the Harrods stop, applied the change, then took it back with Undo. A deleted stop comes back with its time, place and notes.

Two bookshops that no longer exist. The draft sent us to Persephone Books on Lamb's Conduit Street, which moved to Bath in 2021, and to the Village Voice bookshop in Paris, which closed in 2012. We asked the assistant to change both stops in place. It searched the web and chose the London Review Bookshop near the British Museum and Ofr. in the Marais, and checked that each is open in its time slot. It also pointed out that the old pair had never been in the Marais, and that the map pins would stay at the old addresses until we gave it the new ones.

The lesson is the one for any plan, however it was made: check that the places still exist. An AI planner makes the same mistakes as an old guidebook.

Before you go

• Get a UK ETA if you need one. Most visitors who don't need a visa, including travellers from the EU and the US, now need an electronic travel authorisation before they fly or take the train to the UK.
• Book the fixed times. The Eurostar, the Louvre and Sainte-Chapelle slots, the Fortnum & Mason tea and Winter Wonderland entry can all sell out in December.
• Check the Christmas dates. Markets and light displays change from year to year; confirm the 2026 dates before you fix the evenings around them.
• Mind the closing days. Many Paris museums close on Mondays and the Louvre closes on Tuesdays. This plan avoids both; check again if you move days around.
